Collections Officer

Role Description:

This is a full-time on-site role of Collections Officer, based in Kingston, Jamaica. The Collections Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks of contacting and negotiating with consumers to recover outstanding debts. The Collections Officer will work closely with the management team to collaborate on optimal collection strategies.

Collections Officer Responsibilities:

  • Contacting customers and informing them of their overdue payments.
  • Advising customers on their payment options and suggesting methods of payment.
  • Negotiating suitable payment plans.
  • Maintaining customer payment records.
  • Writing final notice warnings to customers when payments are not being made.
  • Instituting legal action when customers fail to pay their debt.
  • Responding to customer queries.
  • Negotiate settlements to receive payments on certain percentages of debt.


  • Debt Collection and Finance Skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Strong Analytical Skills to identify consumer behaviors and create targeted collection strategies
  • Excellent Customer Service and Communication Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Certificate in finance, business management or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and proficiency in collection software programs
